What is soft tissue grafting?
Soft tissue grafting is also referred to as gum graft surgery or gum grafting. Periodontal procedures are available to stop or reverse gum recession, improve the esthetics of your gum line or reduce tooth sensitivity.
Dr. Monica A. Flynn offers the following grafting procedures:
- Connective tissue graft – using your own gum tissue
- Free gingival graft – using your own gum tissue
- Soft tissue allograft – using freeze-dried acellular dermal matrix instead of your own gum tissue
A soft tissue graft is a delicate procedure and will require special post op instructions that you will need to follow. We will go over these instructions with you before surgery. One of the most important things will be little to no talking for the first 48 hours.
Many surgical procedures require a few short healing check visits so Dr. Monica A. Flynn can monitor the patient’s healing. There is never a charge for these healing visits.
We will be able to determine which type of soft tissue grafting is best for you after a thorough consultation with Dr. Monica A. Flynn.
